SI-Community Partnership ModelWe believe that the success of each and every SI program depends on how effectively we can collaborate and partner with community-based organizations. Thus, we have identified a five-step model by which we establish and sustain partnerships:
Identify key community leaders who can link the Salween Institute with interested and engaged community members. Consult with local community organizations and/or civil society organizations to identify relevant public policy issues related to education, environment, governance, land ownership, etc. Collaborate with local community organizations and/or civil society organizations to identify active and engaged leaders within the communities, who will work closely with SI advisors to develop and support topical Community Empowerment programs. Acquire new resources and recruit individuals with unique skill and expertise to present on topics relevant to the needs of community. One of the best ways to enhance the quality of our programs is to bring in new resources from outside the community and expand SI resource network. Create sustainability in the partnership through program assessment, evaluation, briefing and de-briefing with stakeholders from the community.
